Services We Offer

Chiropractic

Chiropractors use the best available evidence and clinical expertise to diagnose issues that affect your body’s movement. They treat them without medication or surgery and prevent them from returning. Chiropractic care can also promote health and improve your quality of life, as well as alleviate pain.
Dr. Colhoun is well trained and accomplished in many Chiropractic techniques including Diversified, Thompson and Activator. Additionally he has a Fellowship in Chiropractic Pediatrics and is a certified Webster practitioner.

Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy (also known as physical therapy) benefits include decreased pain, improved joint mobility, increased strength and coordination and even improved cardiorespiratory function. Everyone can benefit from seeing a physiotherapist, whether you are living with a chronic illness, recovering from an injury or suffering after that weekend hockey game.
Physiotherapy increases your quality of life and gives you freedom in your home, workplace or at your favorite leisure activity. Physical therapy offers a range of specialized services of benefit to patients with heart and lung disease, traumatic and athletic injuries, amputations, arthritic joints, stroke, brain injury, spinal cord and nerve injury, cancer and pre- and postsurgical needs.
Physiotherapy is a drug-free health care practice. Physiotherapists work in partnership with individuals of all ages to break down the barriers to physical function whether that means working with patients pre and post surgery, helping people come back from illness and chronic disease, injury, or age related conditions. Physical therapists also play an important role in health promotion and disease prevention. Physical therapy is the treatment of choice for many who suffer from pain whether in the back or neck, or joint pain such as hips, knees, ankles, wrists, elbows or shoulders.

Bioflex Laser Therapy

Laser therapy is the use of monochromatic light emission from a low intensity laser diode (250 milliwatts or less) or an array of high intensity super luminous diodes (providing total optical power up to the 2000 milliwatt range). Conditions treated include musculoskeletal problems, the arthritides, sports injuries and dermatological conditions. The light source is placed in contact with the skin allowing the photon energy to penetrate tissue, where it interacts with various intracellular biomolecules resulting in the normalization of cellular components. This also enhances the body's natural healing processes. The following chart outlines some of the specific effects of Low Intensity Laser Therapy.

NeuroKinetic Therapy

NeuroKinetic Therapy is a sophisticated form of manual therapy that combines motor control theory and manual muscle testing. The science of motor control theory states that the motor control center in the cerebellum stores all the coordination patterns of the body. It is directed by the limbic system and the cerebral cortex to not only create movement patterns (such as when a baby learns to stand), but also to create substitute movement patterns when we are injured.

IASTM - Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization

Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilisation or Simply IASTM is a new range of tool which enables clinicians to efficiently locate and treat individuals diagnosed with soft tissue dysfunction. The technique itself is said to be a modern evolution from Traditional Chinese Medicine called Gua Sha. However Gua Sha was not used to treat Musculoskeletal conditions but was traditionally applied along meridiens to move the bad chi out through the skin. IASTM is a procedure that is rapidly growing in popularity due to its effectiveness and efficiency while remaining non-invasive with its own indications and limitations.

Pelvic Health

Pelvic Health concerns are far too common and rarely talked about. Many men and women suffer silently without realizing that there are effective, evidence-based treatment solutions. PHS wants to break this silence and help train medical professionals to understand and utilize these solutions. We want to help bridge the gap for patients to find a physiotherapist that has the required training to improve their quality of life.

Yoga

Yoga is an ancient and complex practice, rooted in Indian philosophy. It began as a spiritual practice but has become popular as a way of promoting physical and mental well-being.

Although classical yoga also includes other elements, yoga as practiced in the United States typically emphasizes physical postures (asanas), breathing techniques (pranayama), and meditation (dyana). Popular yoga styles such as iyengar, bikram, and hatha yoga focus on these elements.

Yoga and two practices of Chinese origin—tai chi and qi gong—are sometimes called “meditative movement” practices. All three practices include both meditative elements and physical ones.

Rock Tape Certified

RockTape is a special kind of tape known as kinesiology tape.

First used by acupuncturists and chiropractors in Japan, today kinesiology tape is used by practitioners throughout the world to treat injuries and improve sports performance.

While the use of kinesiology is often associated with athletes such as Michelle Wie, Adrian Peterson and Jason Khalipa, the reality is that RockTape is effective for the treatment of a wide variety of problems, not just sports injuries.

RockTape is made from 97% cotton and 3% nylon. The adhesive is a hypo-allergenic, acrylic-based and contains no latex.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture, also known as needle puncture, is a traditional Chinese therapeutic treatment that involves the insertion of tiny needles into the body at specific acupoints. It originates from China and has been practiced in the Orient for almost 4,000 years. In the late 20 century, acupuncture began to spread rapidly in Europe and North America, and started to grow a high acceptance and popularity amongst the general public in the western world.
Our Physiotherapist is a qualified Acupuncturist and will discuss with you whether acupuncture is the appropriate solution to your problem.
